Celebrate Res Dogs Red Week with your snappiest uni (or any red clothing if your kit is in the wash) as we close out August with a perennial favorite: 800m repeats on the Great Hill track!
This is an excellent base workout for assessing conditioning and promotes fine-tuning your internal sense for reaching and maintaining a desired pace. And for the adventurous, there is the prospect of an add-on segment!
WE WILL MEET AT THE GREAT HILL AT 630p WEDNESDAY, NOT BEHIND THE MET. If you are late, feel free to roll in when you can and join the fun.
The workout is 5-8×800 with a jog recovery of about 400m. This works out to nearly 2.5 laps of the track on the pickup and nearly 1.5 laps on the recovery. We will have a one-lap warmup just before starting. Total distance for five repeats is ~4 miles, for eight repeats is ~5.5 miles.
It will be hot tomorrow but the trees should offer some shade and we should feel any breeze. Although there is a drinking fountain (and bathrooms!), it is advisable to bring a bottle, hydration belt or backpack. I am happy to safeguard those items along with dry clothing, bags and chocolate confections.
See you at the Great Hill!
Brett
