Can you believe it? We reached spring after this winter’s miserable weather (ha!) and glorious running weather arrives. For this first Wednesday workout after the Vernal Equinox, we kick off the nine-week training block for BKN Half.
Those of us bolstering the cheer squad race day (and then heartily partaking in Coney Island’s spoils) have incentives for circling the next nine Wednesdays on our calendars. The workouts Peter Lee sent out yesterday can transform each of us into stronger, more confident runners. As in past training plans, there are A (standard) and B (more strenuous) versions.
Per usual we will meet behind The Met at light pole E8301 and warm up to the bottom of Cat Hill. If it is more convenient, or you are late, meet us at the bottom of Cat at ~710a (and please run a mile warmup).
A: 2x Cat Hill Hard, jog recovery; 1’ jog, 2x 800m @ HMP on 1’ jog, 2x Cat Hill Hard, jog recovery
B: 3x Cat Hill Hard, jog recovery; 1’ jog, 4x 800m @ HMP on 1’ jog, 3x Cat Hill Hard, jog recovery
HMP=Half marathon pace. For those not training for BKNH, let’s use your 10k pace +20 seconds
The 800m repeats will start at the south vehicle entrance into the Boathouse parking lot, run south to 72ndCR, turn right and end at the intersection with West Drive. If you are running 3x, the return to Cat Hill is at recovery pace.
Temps in the high 50s tonight!
Brett
