Hi, all!
Piggybacking on Joelle’s post re: the Winter Olympics to note that the club is restarting indoor social gatherings next week, beginning with Dorrian’s on Monday, Feb 7. This decision came in consultation with the COVID Task Force and the Officers. Given the declining rates of COVID cases in NYC and interest across the club in restarting social activities, we decided to lift our temporary pause, which was instated on December 20 in light of the Omicron surge across the city.
As always, if you aren’t feeling well or have tested positive, please stay home. Also, please get vaxxed and boosted! As everyone knows, you need to be vaxxed to dine indoors but get boosted to help keep yourself and our club safe.
Hopefully we won’t see another variant that blazes through the vaccinated population like Omicron did. That being said, if New York City experiences another surge, any club member can make a proposal to the task force in regards to our club’s COVID policy.
As a running club, we are in the unique position to make decisions that help to keep our running and greater community healthy – like our indoor social pause during an unprecedented surge – without worrying about political backlash or dents in our bottom line. Our sport is outdoors and while we love our social gatherings, we’ve weathered the brief (and even not-so-brief) pauses and have come back strong. I believe that we will continue to do so and look forward to seeing many of you at social events very soon!
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Very best,
D
