Hi all,
With the return of TRD social events comes the return of the MNR Winter Olympics! We are starting a little bit later this year, and therefore have a reduced schedule, but with some fun new additions courtesy of your new social co-chair (welcome, Vince!!) 🙂
Why: Because running in the winter is the worst, so let’s make it more enjoyable with some fun post-run activities!
When: 4 weeks of games, plus an awards night, beginning on Monday, 2/7
Where: All events will take place after MNR at Dorrian’s. You must complete the run to receive points at the post-run events. [However, if you are injured and still want to participate, please reach out to Joelle and Vince!]
Points:
For each week:
1st gets 4 points (if a team/pairs competition, the winning team members each receive 4 points, and so on)
2nd gets 3 points
3rd gets 2 points
All participants get 1 pointSchedule of Events:
February 7th – Trivia!
Kicking off the *actual* winter olympics, we will have some Olympics-themed trivia, plus some NYC and running-themed questions. We will split up into teams of 3-5, depending on the number of people participating.February 14th – Hot Chocolate Run + Cookie challenge
A sweet evening for Valentine’s Day! We’ll have hot chocolate (thanks, Brett and Jay!) behind the Met right after the run. At Dorrian’s, we’ll line up 5 at a time and the challenge is to eat a cookie from off your face without using your hands, as quickly as you can. Winners of each round go to the finals.February 21st – Rock, Paper Scissors Tournament
We will randomly place all participants into a bracket and proceed with a single-elimination, best two-of-three tournament. There will be a third place match, so the top three participants will all get points.February 28th – Flip Cup
Team to win the most gets 3 points, all participants get 1 point.March 7th – Awards night

Just a note to say that given the holiday this coming Monday, 2/21, we will have a bye week and will not be holding any TRD Winter Olympics events. Your regularly scheduled programming will return on Monday, 2/28, possibly with an extension of the Olympics and some new games–stay tuned!
