There are ~70 Res Dogs entered in this year’s BKN Half (yay team!), and we are looking forward to seeing everyone plus the cheer squad at the post-race celebration at Coney Island. Finding another club member among 27,000 people at the start or during the largest half in the U.S.? Needle in a haystack.
We know from our March survey of BKNH entrants that a lot of people are aiming for a PR——not surprising considering BKNH is the current PR for 41 percent of survey respondents.
And we also know it can seem easier to run with someone, especially if it’s your first half, or first BKNH or simply to have a friendly face and encouragement from a teammate (or give it) during a rough moment.
If you’re looking for a fellow Res Dog, you’re in the right place!
The FB post’s comment section is open to anyone looking for Res Dogs in the same or nearby corrals so you can make pre-race plans. Perhaps you’ll meet at a convenient subway station and ride together, or pick a spot at baggage claim or a specific corral entrance. A few Dogs have mentioned an interest in pacing: Russell, for example, is looking to go 1:45-1:50 and would happily run with anyone who wants company. (Trust us, he’ll keep you loose and smiling!)
A few requests:
*PLEASE DO NOT POST BIB PHOTOS (they can be copied or counterfeited). Post corral assignment, goal time or other pertinent details.
*When planning your travel and meeting, allow plenty of time for train delays, full trains, bag check and other necessities.
*Even if you do not run together for all or part of the race, knowing a fellow Res Dog is nearby can be a big boost!
Have fun and we’ll see everyone at Coney Island!
