Can you feel the excitement? RDRW *and the year’s last Wednesday workout! As a friend would say: Kids sit in school, dreaming of this.
With the clock striking midnight it is time for the annual countdown workout: 1000m, 900m, 800m … down to a 100m sprint into 2023 (!).
Everyone who has run this workout enjoys it a lot. You’ll see plenty of your fellow Dogs and it’s an excellent run whether you’re training for a race or maintaining your fitness. Bring party hats and noise makers and wear your red with pride!
We will meet at 7p at our usual spot: light pole E8301, behind The Met. The workout will take place on East Drive between ~84th-96th. We’ll get in a little warmup, and if you’re late or it’s more convenient we’ll see you on the drive (we’re starting at the bridle path entrance near the southern pump house on the reservoir).
There will be chalk marks on the drive where each repeat begins and ends. After each repeat, regardless of distance, is a 100m recovery. Target pace is 5k-10k-ish (pretty much whatever you want to run).
The last 100m ends close to Engineers’ Gate. Per usual I’ll take care of any backpacks, jackets, fluid bottles, fruitcakes, etc.
