Welcome to autumn! Cooler temperatures make for ideal workout conditions, and we’ll celebrate the autumnal equinox this Wednesday by bringing back another favorite, Justin’s 1k repeats. A former speed leader (and mighty fine runner), Justin created two routes that provide a variety of terrain in a manageable distance.
WE WILL MEET AT 630p WEDNESDAY AT WEST DRIVE AND 102ND CROSS ROAD, NOT BEHIND THE MET!!!
After a short warmup, the workout will be 6 or 8 x 1k with one minute of standing rest after each repeat. The “or” is because the workout covers two out-and-back courses, so we will run an even number of repeats. We will begin at West Drive, run across 102CR and turn right onto East Drive and finish at a cone that marks 1k. There you’ll take one minute of standing rest, then run back to West Drive. After another one-minute rest the second course goes across 102CR again but this time turns left onto East Drive and down the hill to the cone. One minute later it’s back to West Drive.
If you’re doing 6x1k, the second set is your call. If you’re doing 8x1k, you run both courses again.
The forecast calls for possible showers, and while threatening weather is unlikely PLEASE check all the posting sites for any last-minute changes. There is a drinking fountain a short distance from our meeting/finishing location.
Happy to safeguard extra layers, bags and chocolate-chip cookies during the workout. See you at West Drive at 102 CR!
Brett
