When was the last time you ran on bricks? Probably a few months, so spend some quality time with your fellow Res Dogs on East 91st as part of this week’s Wednesday workout. The block between Second and Third is closed to vehicles and has a pleasant incline that will prepare you for Coogan’s—-fine, the Washington Heights 5k–or simply make you a stronger runner.
It will be a beautiful evening, zero chance of precipitation and a forecast in the upper 30s is waaaaayyyy above 19 Feb’s record low (1 degree in 1936)!
We will meet at the usual spot, the Southern Pump House bridge, at 730p and warm up to E91. If it is more convenient or you are late, we’ll meet at 91st and Third at 740p. If you select the latter option please warm up adequately!
The plan is 8-10 repeats, working westbound (uphill) with a steady, energetic tempo and recovering eastbound (downhill) while maintaining solid mechanics. We are looking for a 5k-ish effort that is demanding enough to maintain the same pace up each repeat.
Bring your watch so you can time each lap!
