Wed 14 Jun: Meet at TAVERN! NY Philharmonic in park

Postby Brett on Wed Jun 14, 2017 7:38 am

We do not often take refuge in the lower loop of the park for a Wednesday workout, but this is one of those nights.

The NY Philharmonic's Concerts in the Park series visits the Great Lawn, so we are staying away from our usual meeting spot on the S.E. Reservoir Bridge.

Unless you want to be swallowed up in pedestrians going into the park for the 8p concert, it is BEST TO ENTER THE PARK AT 72ND OR BELOW.

This is a fairly standard workout: 6x800m at between 5k and 10k pace with 90 seconds of rest. You have the option of an active rest (keep moving) or complete rest (standing in place).

We will take a short warmup before beginning the repeats, if you are late please meet us at the bottom of the hill south of Tavern, at about ~W64th.

We will miss the Dvorak selection (Symphony No. 9, From The New World) but might catch some Bernstein (West Side Story) and Gershwin (American In Paris). And then the fireworks!

In addition to your watch you might bring a water bottle, although temps in the mid-70s is better than the last few days there's no nearby fountain and you'll want a refreshment heading to the music.
