Monday RUNday! 4/24/2017 Austism Awareness

Postby Kat Mal on Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:38 am

April is Autism Awareness Month and what better way to support than moving our post MNR burger/beer location to Shake Shack!

This Monday, April 24th, Shack Shake is donating 15% of all purchases to support NYC Autism Charter School, the first and only public school for kids with Autism in NYC. The school is life changing for both the kids who attend and their families. TRD member Sarah Vanden Broek is a Jr. Board member for the school and will bring flyers for everyone after the run.

And in case you were wondering, Shack Shake has outdoor seating and serves beer.

WEATHER: About 59 degrees

WHAT: Monday is our biggest group run and most social run. Groups run in pace groups from 10 min/mile down to 7-6 min/mile. Choose a run of 4,5, or a fast paced 6 mile loop.

WHEN: Monday April 24, 2017, 7:30 pm

WHERE: Central Park, nearest to Engineer's Gate on east side at 90th street and 5th Avenue (just across the street from the Guggenheim). Look for the red shirts by the benches

COURSE: head north on east drive; cross park at 102nd street transverse. On west drive, head south. At 72nd street transverse, choose either to cross the park (for a 4 mile loop), or opt to continue on east drive to the park's lower loop (5 mile option). Whichever you choose, once you are on the east side drive again, head north and finish where we started!

POST RUN FUN We are heading to Shake Shack on 86th street between Lexington Ave and 3rd Ave. Please be sure you have a flyer before you purchase your food for the donation to count.

Mini Notes:
This is a fun run. Some people are in recovery and some are not - we welcome you all. We do ask that y'all please do your best not to leave any of your fellow pace group members running by him/herself unless they ask you to. If you decide to cut out early, before returning to the start/finish, we ask that you tell at least one runner who is completing the run, so that they can tell us. Also, Dogs run in packs. This means that we can sometimes run wide. We ask that you please keep to the left of the double white lines (& stay on the dirt by the tree at our meet-up spot), so that there is room for other Central Park enthusiasts.

Wanted to remind everyone about Monday Night Run tonight. We are meeting at 7:30pm at engineers gate as always. Post run we are going to Shack Shake where 15% of what you spend will go to help the NYC Autism Charter school. Don't miss out on your chance to consume as many guilt free burgers, shakes, and beers. You are doing it to help a great cause.
